ABOUT JEFF

What do you do with a degree in Geology? You run restaurants, of course! A native of Oyster Bay, Long Island, New York, Jeff Ward came to Park City, Utah for a winter season in the early '80s to take a ski break between college and grad school. But instead of returning to academia, he chose to stay, and over the next 25+ years, has become one of the most successful restaurateurs in the competitive resort restaurant market in Park City, establishing himself as a highly respected business leader and dedicated community contributor.

Jeff held management positions in award-winning restaurants in Park City and California, including Riverhorse Café, Barking Frog Grille, Timberhill Ranch Resort, Stanford Park Hotel, and Stein Eriksen Lodge. He then spent 14 years as General Manager of Golden Rule Inc., where he created and managed the company's two successful properties, 350 Main Brasserie and The Spur Bar and Grill. Jeff oversaw every detail at every level of the operation, and was proud to lead the properties to multiple awards from the press and industry peers, including "Best Restaurant in Park City" from Salt Lake Magazine.

From individual guest dining to corporate or celebrity events, Jeff ensures that his guests are well cared for. His business approach includes a focus on environmental sustainability, and responsibility as a corporate citizen of the community, while simultaneously creating a comfortable atmosphere with great food and wine, acoustic music, and attention to detail. His efforts have earned him the respect of his peers and the business community, and a legion of loyal clientele.

Along the way, Jeff has served in a wide variety of community leadership roles, ranging from participant to board member to president of community and professional organizations including Leadership Park City, the Historic Main Street Business Alliance, Park City Restaurant Association, Park City Chamber/Visitors Bureau, Utah Labor Commission Task Force; City and Chamber panels and executive committees on marketing, the economy, and special events; and Utah Business Magazine's regional business leader roundtable.

Jeff is proud to bring his experience to co-ownership of the Silver Star Café, which he and his wife, Lisa, purchased in March of 2010. Though most of his career has been spent in the world of fine dining, Jeff prefers creating an experience in which both he and his guests can feel relaxed, comfortable and welcome. At Silver Star Café, his focus is on delicious, made-from-scratch comfort food influenced by regional flavors. A professionally trained sommelier and avid wine enthusiast, Jeff is known for development of distinctive, award-winning wine lists, and at Silver Star Café, he has created a list that is known as much for its approachability as for the excellence of its selections. Live acoustic music is a mainstay at Silver Star, where Jeff's own guitar sits in the dining room for anyone to pick up and play.

Jeff and his wife, Lisa, have two sons, and live in Park City.
